UPDATE: EP & Performance of NEW Song Out Now!
For a while now I've been working really hard on finding what I wanted to say in my songs. I've dealt with many long moments of writer's block. I wasn't proud of anything I was writing for a long time. Ever since I moved to Tennessee I've experienced a ton, and also took time to reflect on moments in the past. It's been pretty hard going to college and then leaving college, adjusting to a new setting, saying see you later to my best friends and trying to make new ones. My creativity and motivation burned out due to doubt. It took some time but I finally found the words I wanted to say. I've found the experiences I wanted to share and the things that I've learned. I learned that sometimes you have to understand that people are toxic but you bless their heart anyways, To recognize the impact of a role someone has on your life, Not to forgive so easily even if it's Valentines Day (or any day), to appreciate the glitter in people, to know it's okay to not be okay, just because you aren't where you want to be yet doesn't mean you're not going anywhere, and most importantly; to know your worth.
I am very proud that after a long time of writing and preparing, I have a full setlist for an EP. These songs are the beginning of a journey into my career that I'm so excited to begin. I've never done anything like this my whole life with music and I just can't wait to share this with you!
I'm getting ready to go into the studio sometime soon and I'm going to be honest, I'm still searching for the right studio to bring my music to life. I still have a lot of planning to do but just know it is for sure in the works. I also am constantly writing so I may add another song or two. ;) But for now I wanted to share something with you! This past month I performed a round with the Chattanooga Songwriter's Association and I performed all my new songs. I posted a new video on my youtube from one of the performances. This is my favorite song off of the EP. It's called, 'It's Not Valentine's Day'. I wrote it a month ago where I was at a place reflecting on a moment I was in years ago. The song talks about knowing your worth and knowing you aren't second best. It's a very special song to me and I hope this helps any of you that has dealt with the same situation. It takes a lot of courage to turn down the boy you like on your front porch that left you for some other girl and now wants you back. But you do it because you love yourself way more. Knowing your worth is a powerful thing and I hope this song gives you the strength to achieve that. I know the performance may be a little rusty, but it was my first time performing it and it's a very emotional song. But I hope you love it as much as I do! I hope you're excited for new music as much as I am. Also - if you read all this I just want to say thank you. I won't let you down. ;)
ENJOY THE PERFORMANCE!!
